{"id":831,"date":"2017-10-01T17:26:17","date_gmt":"2017-10-01T09:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/?p=831"},"modified":"2017-10-01T17:49:57","modified_gmt":"2017-10-01T09:49:57","slug":"mt5003-creativity-portfolio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/mt5003-creativity-portfolio\/","title":{"rendered":"MT5003 Creativity Portfolio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Part of my grades for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isem.nus.edu.sg\/graduate_modules\/MT5003.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MT5003 Creativity and Innovation<\/a> consists of a \"Creativity Portfolio\" that tells something about myself in a creative and innovative way. <\/p>\n<p>After the completion of my \"<a href=\"http:\/\/yeochaiheng.com\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Creativity Portfolio<\/a>\", I document my thoughts in this blog post.<\/p>\n<h2>Going by the less is more mantra<\/h2>\n<p>As a technology savvy person, I had generated a lot of content on the Internet which can be included in my portfolio. However, putting everything in my portfolio would bore me before my portfolio bore my readers.<\/p>\n<p>Hence, instead of putting in my entire job history, education history, skills, hobbies, likes, dislikes, lots of photos which I was part of and etc, I decided to only include the information that matter the most.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to only include my:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>name.<\/li>\n<li>country of birth and residence.<\/li>\n<li>current employment at <a href=\"http:\/\/sap.com\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SAP<\/a> instead of my stints at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sistic.com.sg\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sistic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anz.com\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ANZ<\/a>, Puffersoft and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mindef.gov.sg\/army\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">army<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>current candidature at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nus.edu.sg\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National University of Singapore<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eng.nus.edu.sg\/graduate-studies\/coursework-programmes\/management-of-technology\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Masters of Science in Management of Technology<\/a> instead of my degree from National University of Singapore and diploma from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tp.edu.sg\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Temasek Polytechnic<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>skills relevant for my work.<\/li>\n<li>most recent blog posts.<\/li>\n<li>Facebook, LinkedIn and website links.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And since a picture speaks a thousand words, I decided to include a couple of pictures that were taken with my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=iPhone&linkCode=ll2&tag=clivsperswebs-20&linkId=ee346ecd99281922771c4551fee8d526\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">iPhone<\/a> or my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=DSLR+camera&rh=i:aps,k:DSLR+camera&linkCode=ll2&tag=clivsperswebs-20&linkId=cc8917bb8b97e0c69623ff45c5bdd79b\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DSLR camera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Playing to my strengths<\/h2>\n<p>Initially, I see this assignment as a good  opportunity for me to learn something new and build a portfolio out of it. However, with so many tasks on my plate, I knew that time was never going to be on my side.<\/p>\n<p>Since I had been building web applications for most part of my life, I decided to create a web page with some one or two effects that I had never used before. Doing so could spark my creativity in presenting information and yet maintain a good balance in allocating my time budget to tackle the tasks on my plate. <\/p>\n<p>Presenting my information as a web page is also convenient for my readers as they can choose to read it anytime, anywhere and on any device that can access the Internet. <\/p>\n<p>Lastly, since my Creativity Portfolio is a web page, I can put it on my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/how-i-setup-codiad-web-ide-on-my-raspberry-pi-3\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Codiad Web IDE setup on Raspberry Pi 3<\/a> and work on it whenever I could find time, from any device.  <\/p>\n<h2>Exploring the elements of my Creativity Portfolio<\/h2>\n<p>In my portfolio, I included a total of six images. On a laptop or desktop, five of the images are presented with the parallax effect. <\/p>\n<h3>The first image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/me-at-chillon-castle.jpg\" alt=\"Me at Chillon castle\" \/><br \/>\nThe first image is a photo of me at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chillon.ch\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chillon Castle<\/a> in Switzerland. Apart from showing how I look like in person, this photo also represents my love for travelling.<\/p>\n<h3>The second image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/seedling-of-chilli-plant.jpg\" alt=\"Seedling of chilli plant\" \/><br \/>\nThe second image is a photo of my chilli plant when it was still a seedling. An image of a seedling is an ideal image that shows growth.<\/p>\n<h3>The third image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/marina-bay-sands-with-lights.jpg\" alt=\"Marina Bay Sands with lights\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The third image is a photo of the skyline of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marina Bay Sands<\/a> that I took from the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Esplanade_Bridge\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Esplanade Bridge<\/a> while the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\/entertainment\/spectra.html\">Spectra show<\/a> was ongoing. This photo is the best photo that I could find in my collection that showcases one of Singapore's beautiful skylines.<\/p>\n<h3>The forth image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sap-long-service-pass.jpg\" alt=\"SAP long service pass\"\/><br \/>\nThe forth image is a photo shows my current employment and how long I had been employed by my company.<\/p>\n<h3>The fifth image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/nus-heng-mui-keng-entrance.jpg\" alt=\"NUS Heng Mui Keng entrance\" \/><br \/>\nThe fifth image is a photo that I took at Heng Mui Keng's entrance to the National University of Singapore. This image shows not only my candidature at NUS, but also one of the path that I normally take to get to school. <\/p>\n<h3>The sixth image<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/bricks.jpg\" alt=\"Bricks Wall\" \/><br \/>\nThe sixth image is a photo of a brick wall that I would walk past at the School of Computing. The brick wall represents stability and strength in my ability to build things with tools from the computing world.<\/p>\n<h3>The type writing effect<\/h3>\n<p>After the deck of images were shown, I featured an animation of typing out the <code>cat<\/code> command on a file named as <code>my-skills.txt<\/code>.
