the camera serial interface (CSI), the Raspberry Pi camera module is an ideal peripheral for implementing Raspberry Pi based projects that require image capturing. <\/p>\n<p>This post documents how to connect a Raspberry Pi camera module to a Raspberry Pi 3. <\/p>\n<h2>Parts to be assembled together<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/raspberry-pi-camera-module-flex-cable-and-raspberry-pi-3-board.jpg\" alt=\"Raspberry Pi Camera Module Flex Cable and Raspberry Pi 3 board\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The following is the list of parts that are used for the purpose of this post:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01CD5VC92?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creativeASIN=B01CD5VC92&amp;linkCode=xm2&amp;tag=clivsperswebs-20\" title=\"Amazon page for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Mother board\" target=\"_blank\" data-amzn-asin=\"B01CD5VC92\">Raspberry Pi 3 motherboard<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The instructions listed in this post are applicable to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00T2U7R7I?ie=UTF8&tag=clivsperswebs-20&camp=1789&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=B00T2U7R7I\" target=\"_blank\">Raspberry Pi 2 board<\/a> with any of the following Raspberry Pi Cameras:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01ER2SKFS?ie=UTF8&tag=clivsperswebs-20&camp=1789&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=B01ER2SKFS\" target=\"_blank\">Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2 - 8 Megapixel,1080p<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B01ER2SMHY?ie=UTF8&tag=clivsperswebs-20&camp=1789&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=B01ER2SMHY\" target=\"_blank\">Raspberry Pi NoIR Camera Module V2 - 8MP 1080P<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Connecting the Flex cable to the Raspberry Pi Camera Module<\/h2>\n<p>To connect the Flex cable to the Raspberry Pi Camera Module, we first pull the black connector downwards:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/direction-to-loosen-clip-on-raspberry-pi-camera-module-v1.jpg\" alt=\"Direction to loosen clip on Raspberry Pi Camera Module v1\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A loosened camera connector will look like the following:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" the cable connector loosened, we then insert the Flex cable and push up the camera connector to fasten the Flex cable to the camera module:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Camera Module v1 with Flex cable\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A fastened camera connector with Flex cable looks like this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" connector\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Connecting the other end of the Flex cable to the CSI connector on the Raspberry Pi 3 board<\/h2>\n<p>Once we had connected the Flex cable to the Raspberry Pi Camera module, we can proceed to connect the other end of the Flex cable to the CSI connector on the Raspberry Pi 3 board.<\/p>\n<p>The following picture highlights the CSI connector on the Raspberry Pi 3 board
