href=\"https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/downloads\/raspbian\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raspbian download page<\/a> to download <strong>Raspbian Buster with desktop and recommended software<\/strong> onto a computer with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/s\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?k=SD+card+writer&ref=nb_sb_noss&linkCode=ll2&tag=clivsperswebs-20&linkId=356879f88295018743d1dfb78e324167&language=en_US\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SD card writer<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" dated 20200205\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Installing Raspbian Buster image onto your microSD card<\/h2>\n<p>While waiting for the download, you can insert your microSD card into the SD card writer.<\/p>\n<p>After you had downloaded the <code>.zip<\/code> file, use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.balena.io\/etcher\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">balenaEtcher<\/a> to flash the image to your microSD card.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/balenaEtcher-flash-image-animation.gif\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"balenaEtcher flash image animation\"><\/p>\n<h2>Booting up Raspbian Buster on your Raspberry Pi 4<\/h2>\n<p>When your balenaEtcher had completed the installation, remove the microSD card from your computer and put it into the SD card slot on your Pi 4. In addition to that, attach the USB-C power adapter, monitor, keyboard and mouse to your Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. If you have a network cable, you can also choose to connect it to your Pi 4.<\/p>\n<p>Once you had connected the peripherals to your Pi, supply power to the power adapter.<\/p>\n<p>When you do so, your Pi 4 will first resize the file system to take up the entire space on your microSD card. After it had done so, your Raspberry Pi 4 Model B will restart.<\/p>\n<h2>Completing the first time setup wizard<\/h2>\n<p>Once your Raspberry Pi 4 Model B starts up again, a first time setup wizard will guide you through the initial configurations.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the wizard to complete the initial configurations for your Pi 4.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspbian-Buster-first-time-setup-wizard-animation.gif\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"Raspbian Buster first time setup wizard animation\"><\/p>\n<h2>Enabling 4K video resolution on Raspbian Buster<\/h2>\n<p>Since a higher operating temperature is expected for 4K usage, make sure you have attached the heat sinks to your Pi 4.<\/p>\n<p>This is the reason why 4K video resolution is disabled in Raspbian Buster by default.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to watch 4K videos with your Raspberry Pi 4, then you need to enable 4K video resolution.<\/p>\n<p>In order to enable 4K video resolution, first start a terminal program:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Raspbian-Buster-20190710-taskbar-with-terminal-program-icon-hovered.gif\" alt=\"Raspbian Buster 20190710 taskbar with terminal program icon hovered\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the terminal program got started, type the following command to start the Raspberry Pi Software Configuration Tool:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"brush: bash; In fact, I had created the animated gifs for this post with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gimp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GIMP<\/a> instance running on my Pi 4.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to install GIMP on your Pi 4, simply search for <strong>gimp<\/strong> in the Add \/ Remove Software and check <strong>GNU Image Manipulation Program<\/strong> along with the components that you need:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techcoil.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Add-Remove-Software-program-with-GIMP-installed-running-on-Raspbian-Buster-20190710.gif\" alt=\"Add Remove Software program with GIMP installed running on Raspbian Buster 20190710\" class=\"aligncenter\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you had done so, click <strong>Apply<\/strong> then <strong>OK<\/strong> to install GIMP.<\/p>\n<p>When GIMP is installed, you can find it under Graphics -> GNU Image Manipulation Program:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"
